At least two individuals were injured when the convoy of Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, passed near Muzaffarabad.

The attack occurred while Speaker Akbar was heading to Kakliyot, his constituency, for a ceremony welcoming notable political activists into the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Thankfully, Akbar was unharmed, though two PPP workers were injured in the shooting.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the shooting incident targeting. In a statement, President Zardari condemned the attack as cowardly and despicable. He expressed his hopes for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.
