Atlanta United signs Sergio Santos for the 2026 MLS season, strengthening its attacking options ahead of the new campaign. The club confirmed the free agent forward’s arrival on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has agreed to a deal that includes an option through December 2027. The signing adds experience and depth to Atlanta’s frontline.
Santos brings seven seasons of MLS experience. Since 2019, he has recorded 28 goals and 13 assists in 156 regular-season matches across three clubs.
Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson welcomed the move, saying Santos has been a productive forward in the league and will add competition to the team’s attacking group.
“He’s going to bring MLS experience, quality and a winning mindset to our team,” Henderson said in the club statement.
Santos previously played for the Philadelphia Union from 2019 to 2022. He later joined FC Cincinnati, where he featured from 2022 to 2025, before spending time with the Houston Dynamo in 2025.
Throughout his MLS career, the Brazilian forward has built a reputation as a versatile attacker capable of contributing both goals and assists.
Atlanta United will open its 2026 MLS regular season at FC Cincinnati. The club aims to build momentum early with a strengthened squad.
The addition of Santos increases competition among Atlanta’s forwards. His familiarity with MLS systems and defences could prove valuable during the season.
By signing a proven league veteran, Atlanta United signals its intention to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.
