The Airport Security Force (ASF) successfully executed three significant drug interception operations at Peshawar and Islamabad airports in a single day, underscoring their commitment to combating narcotics trafficking.
At Peshawar Airport, ASF personnel detected 455 grams of narcotics hidden within the shoes of a passenger bound for Dubai, marking the first of these notable operations. The prompt action led to the seizure and prevented the drugs from being smuggled internationally.
The focus then shifted to Islamabad Airport, where two further operations unfolded. In one incident, ASF officials discovered 1.840 kilograms of ice heroin ingeniously concealed within the footwear of a female passenger en route to Bahrain. In a separate but equally strategic operation at the same airport, the team uncovered 6.172 kilograms of heroin-soaked garments in the luggage of another passenger also travelling to Bahrain. These swift interventions highlight ASF’s vigilance and operational efficiency.
Earlier this month, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) also made headlines when they thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs into Pakistan at Karachi Airport. A woman from Uganda, arriving from Dubai, was arrested after she was found to be carrying capsules filled with narcotics. She was promptly transferred to a hospital, where an additional 144 grams of cocaine were recovered. Further investigation revealed a connection to a Nigerian accomplice, who the ANF later apprehended at a hotel in Lahore based on intelligence inputs.
These back-to-back operations by ASF and ANF demonstrate their relentless pursuit of drug traffickers and their dedication to ensuring the safety of national and international travelers.
