Armie Hammer denies being a cannibal and that Robert Downey Jr. paid for his rehab. Responding to questions about his recent behaviour, the actor emerged from obscurity to defend himself against allegations of cannibalism, which surfaced after texts with one of his abuse victims were revealed online and in a documentary last year.
To address these accusations, Hammer agreed to an interview with Piers Morgan, known for his tough questioning.
Piers Morgan directly asked, “Are you a cannibal?”
During the interview, Morgan did not hesitate to ask Hammer the burning question. Hammer, who had previously discussed the issue on Bill Maher’s podcast, denied the cannibalism accusations but admitted to cheating on his wife and using other women to boost his ego. When Morgan asked him directly if he was a cannibal, Hammer responded, “No, I am not. You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to have eaten someone. So, no. I don’t think that’s any different than when someone looks at a baby and goes, ‘Oh my God, look at those cute little fat legs; I just want to eat you up.’ There wasn’t even blood in the situation, it was more like a scrape.”
Morgan’s question stemmed from a text message in which Hammer allegedly stated, “I am 100% a cannibal.” This message was the primary cause of the public’s alarm when the texts were leaked. Additionally, they discussed the rumour that Robert Downey Jr. had financially supported Hammer’s rehab, which Hammer denied. However, he confirmed that Downey had advised him to “sit down, shut up, and everything would be okay.” Hammer also mentioned that he has been in regular contact with Johnny Depp via FaceTime and receives support from him.
Hammer admitted to having a very intense and sexually charged affair with his accuser but denied any graver allegations. The LAPD found no evidence of major crimes beyond infidelity. Whether Hammer can salvage his career remains to be seen.
