Apple is developing a ChatGPT-like application codenamed Veritas to test its next-generation Siri, Bloomberg reported. Veritas, designed for internal use, assists Apple’s AI division in simulating real-world interactions, refining prompt strategies, and addressing bugs prior to Siri’s planned overhaul in March 2026.
Veritas, meaning “truth” in Latin, mirrors existing chatbots, enabling multiple chats and follow-up queries. It tests the Linwood system, which powers the revamped Siri using Apple’s Foundation Models and a third-party large language model. Engineers use feedback to enhance response generation and error-handling logic.

Siri’s 2026 Upgrade
Originally planned for iOS 18, Siri’s upgrade faced delays but is now set for early 2026. Apple aims to visually redesign the assistant and integrate AI into smart home devices and web search. The company lags behind Google and Samsung in the AI race, having explored partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini.

With 2 billion active Apple devices (Apple, 2025), Siri’s overhaul is critical. Veritas ensures a robust upgrade, addressing user demands for smarter AI. Apple’s AI push, amid 70% consumer interest in advanced assistants (Statista, 2025), aims to close the gap with competitors.
