On July 31, 2025, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced during the Q3 2025 earnings call that the company would significantly increase its investments in artificial intelligence (AI). “We view AI as one of the most transformative technologies of our time,” Cook stated, highlighting its integration across Apple’s platforms. Apple is reallocating talent and resources to enhance user experiences driven by AI, to make AI “accessible and useful for everyone.”

In 2025, Apple acquired seven companies focused on artificial intelligence to enhance its technological capabilities, as CEO Tim Cook discussed in an interview with CNBC. Although these acquisitions were not particularly high-value, they demonstrate Apple’s strong dedication to AI innovation.

The company has launched over 20 AI features, including tools for visual intelligence and writing assistance. Additionally, Apple plans to introduce a live translation feature and an AI-powered workout assistant later this year. The anticipated update to Siri has been pushed back to 2026, emphasising the company’s priority on quality over speed. Cook stated, “It’s about getting it right, not being first.”

Apple’s Q3 earnings surpassed expectations, primarily due to strong iPhone sales and record revenue, which led to a boost in its stock during after-hours trading. The company’s increased capital expenditures (CapEx) support its AI initiatives; however, its reliance on third-party partners may hinder rapid growth, per TechCrunch. CEO Tim Cook dismissed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s assertion that AI glasses could replace smartphones, stating, “It’s hard to envision a world without the iPhone playing a central role.”

Apple’s investments in artificial intelligence position it as a leader in technological innovation, addressing previous criticisms about its slow progress in the AI sector. The company’s emphasis on quality and strategic acquisitions has the potential to transform user experiences.
