Initial reports indicated five injured individuals, but police later confirmed the suspect was among the wounded. “With assistance from a civilian, we overpowered the suspect,” police stated in a social media update. “Due to a leg injury, we transported him to a hospital.”
Authorities have not released information about the victims’ conditions or the suspect’s identity. ANP, a Dutch news agency, published images showing emergency workers wheeling a person into an ambulance on a stretcher.

Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema reportedly left a city hall meeting upon learning of the attack. While authorities continue investigating, they have not confirmed whether the incident was terror-related.
