Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood legend Aamir Khan, is set to make his cinematic debut in the Netflix original Maharaj.
Like his father, Junaid has undergone a complete physical transformation in his role, shedding 26 kg over two years.
As the news agency IANS reported, he will portray a journalist in the movies in this eagerly anticipated film. The movie, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, who previously helmed Hichki starring Rani Mukerji, is backed by Yash Raj Films and is slated for release on June 14.
The promotional material for Maharaj features Junaid alongside actor Jaideep Ahlawat. The film’s narrative is teased as a dramatic confrontation between a fearless journalist and a powerful adversary inspired by true events. This collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Netflix also stars Sharvari and Shalini Pandey and was officially announced on February 29.
Beyond Maharaj, Junaid is actively working on other projects, including an upcoming film with Sai Pallavi and an untitled venture with Khushi Kapoor. Set in the 1800s, Maharaj aims to delve into compelling journalistic stories that challenge societal norms and uncover truths, promising a gripping exploration of courage and justice.
