Onijah Andrew Robinson, an American woman, travelled to Pakistan in search of love but found herself stranded after the man from Karachi for whom she had come abandoned her.
Robinson, 33, came to Karachi to be with Nidal Ahmed Memon, 19, and she is unwilling to leave the country. She has made a peculiar request for $3,000 each week and insists on becoming a Pakistani citizen.
Robinson arrived in Pakistan on October 11 after falling in love with Nidal through social media. Initially, Nidal was willing to marry her, but under intense family pressure, he refused to proceed with the relationship. Left stranded, Robinson spent seven days at Karachi Airport after her tourist visa expired, preventing her from leaving the country.
Desperate, she travelled to Nidal’s residence in Karachi’s Garden area, only to find the house locked and his family gone. With nowhere to go, Robinson staged a sit-in outside the building, taking shelter in the parking area. Her presence attracted crowds, raising concerns among residents about their safety.
Onijah Andrew Robinson’s Unusual Demands
Robinson told Pakistani media, “You got to give me $3,000 weekly. I’m becoming a citizen of Pakistan; that’s all I got to say for tonight.” When asked why she wasn’t leaving, she added, “If y’all dropping no bread by next week, I think I should leave.”
SDPO Clifton Faiza Sodhar met with Robinson to address the situation and transferred her to a women’s police station. Authorities noted that she required security and appeared to be in an unstable mental state. However, she was sent back to the Garden area upon her insistence.
Efforts to send Robinson back to the US have been unsuccessful. A local NGO purchased a return ticket and provided financial assistance, but she refused to board the flight. Airport sources revealed that she created a scene by refusing to undergo immigration procedures and declining to board Flight QR 611, which was bound for the US via Doha.

A two-member team from the US Consulate met with Robinson at Karachi Airport and discussed the matter with officials. While they preferred to convince her to return to the US, they acknowledged that they could not force her. Robinson declined assistance from the consulate and refused help from anyone.
Nidal’s Disappearance and Family Opposition
Police sources revealed that Nidal was taken into custody by intelligence agencies four days ago while his family had already vacated their residence. Reports suggest that Nidal’s family strongly opposed the relationship, leading to his decision to abandon Robinson.
Robinson’s ordeal has taken a toll on her health. Due to cold weather and illness, she was admitted to the emergency clinic at Karachi Airport. Despite her struggles, she remains determined to stay in Pakistan, leaving authorities and welfare organizations in a difficult position.
