Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif said Friday that all the units of the Pakistan Army should always be “at the ready” to defend the country.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief stated this effect during his visit to Son Miani Rangers, where he witnessed air defence firing exercises in which a full range of air defence weapons, including AA (anti-Aircraft) batteries and surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) were put to the test.

The COAS greatly appreciated the professionalism of the participating units and the standards achieved in engaging aerial targets.

“All the units will always have to maintain a high level of preparedness to respond to the call of duty. “

Various SAMs were tested during the ongoing wargames in Sonmiani, which allowed the military to operate with a range of missiles and beefed up air defence.

While interacting with the troops, COAS reiterated that the country’s multidimensional security threats require a high state of preparedness at all times.
