Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif Friday said that all the units of Pakistan Army should always be “at the ready” to defend the country.”
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief issued a statement to this effect during his visit to Son Miani Rangers, where he witnessed air defence firing exercises in which a full range of air defense weapons including AA (anti Aircraft) batteries and surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) were put to test.
The COAS greatly appreciated the professionalism of the participating units and standards achieved in engaging aerial targets.
“All the units will always have to maintain a high-level of preparedness to respond to the call of duty”.
Various SAMs were tested during the ongoing wargames in Sonmiani, which give the military the capability of operating with a range of missiles and beefed up air defence.
While interacting with the troops, COAS reiterated that the multidimensional security threats faced by the country required a high state of preparedness at all times.
