Ali Amin Gandapur of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). KP Governor Ghulam Ali officiated the oath-taking ceremony at the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
Gandapur secured his position as Chief Minister in a decisive election within the 106-member house, garnering 90 votes against the 16 votes obtained by his competitor from PML-N, Dr. Ibadullah Khan.
In his inaugural address, Gandapur announced a welfare initiative for the province, pledging a disbursement of Rs 10,000 to each of the nine lakh eligible residents during Ramazan, with transparency ensured through data from the Ehsas program.
Emphasizing his commitment to governance reforms, Gandapur outlined plans to engage experts to eliminate corruption and mismanagement within the province. He expressed a firm stance against corrupt practices and vowed to address the challenges of drug abuse and crime in KP.
Gandapur reiterated his dedication to inclusive governance and service to the people of KP, promising relentless efforts to improve the region’s socio-economic conditions.
His appointment as Chief Minister, endorsed by PTI’s founder Imran Khan, follows a notable political trajectory that began with his election to the KP Provincial Assembly in 2013. Gandapur’s previous roles include serving as the provincial revenue minister in KP’s first PTI government and as the Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan minister under former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet.
