A shocking story about an Alabama mayor and pastor, F.L. “Bubba” Copeland, who led a secret life and faced severe controversy. Copeland, who recently took his own life, was reportedly living as a “transgender curvy girl” in secrecy and allegedly used the photo of a local minor in a disturbing context on social media.
The New York Post reported on one of his hidden social media accounts Copeland allegedly posted photos of a local boy and his sister, falsely representing the boy as having transitioned. The post, which included the boy’s real name, shockingly encouraged transitioning with the caption, “Take the shots, get implants, become the w–re.” In another post, Copeland’s alter ego, Brittini Blaire Summerlin, was shown undressing, featuring a minor in the image.
Copeland’s actions extended beyond social media. He wrote erotic fiction, using the real names of women from his town, including a local hair stylist who expressed her horror at finding her full name in a graphic online story. Ansley Summerlin, another resident, revealed that her name and photos were used without consent on pornographic sites connected to stories Copeland had written. His writings also included disturbing narratives of watching women through security cameras and fantasizing about violent acts.
Copeland’s Reaction to Public Exposure and Tragic End
Following the exposure of his secret life by 1819 News, Copeland reached out to a friend in the local police department. This led to a welfare check by authorities. When deputies located Copeland and attempted to pull him over, he tragically ended his life. The incident has sparked an investigation, with the local sheriff asserting that the deputies were trying to assess Copeland’s welfare.
The editor of 1819 News, Jeff Poor, defended the site’s reporting, highlighting the severity of Copeland’s actions and dismissing claims that their coverage led to his suicide. Poor emphasized the disturbing nature of Copeland’s writings, which included violent fantasies, asserting the importance of bringing these issues to light. This story has raised questions about Copeland’s actions but also about the responsibility of the media in reporting such sensitive issues.
