The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government announced on Thursday that all educational institutions across the region will be closed for two days. This decision comes in response to a scheduled long march to the AJK capital, Muzaffarabad, by Public Action Committees set for May 11.

In a related security measure, the federal cabinet approved the deployment of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) in Azad Kashmir. This deployment aims to protect Chinese nationals and key infrastructures such as powerhouses. The FC will initially serve in the region for three months to help maintain law and order.

Sources indicate that the FC will ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and safeguard facilities, including the Neelum-Jhelum, Mangla, and Gul Pur powerhouses. In total, six FC platoons will be stationed across Azad Kashmir.
