Pakistan’s number one tennis player, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, made it to the semifinal stage of Wimbledon’s mixed-doubles’ event on Thursday.

Aisam, who is partnering with Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova, beat Marcin Matkowski of Poland and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia 6-3, 3-6 and 7-5.

During the 1 hour 49-minute-long match on Court 3, Aisam and Shvedova bagged 94 points to the Matkowski-Srebotnik duo’s 91 points in a close call.

The match saw the Pak-Kazakh duo serve 13 aces, five more than their opposing team, and commit three double faults.

Aisam and Shvedova will face off Robert Farah of Colombia and Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld on Court 3 on Friday.

This is Aisam’s, who turned professional in 1998, 11th appearance in the grass courts’ event.

His previous best performance in the doubles event came in 2010 when he made it to the quarterfinal round.
