Argentina’s striker Sergio Aguero collapsed at halftime during their 4-2 friendly loss to Nigeria. Aguero had scored earlier but was later hospitalized for a dizzy spell, according to Manchester City, his Premier League club.
The Argentine Football Federation reported Aguero in stable condition. After obtaining medical clearance, he’s scheduled to return to England.
Argentina, without Lionel Messi, initially led with goals from Ever Banega and Aguero. Nigeria, however, staged a comeback with Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi among the scorers.
Argentina’s coach, Jorge Sampaoli, expressed concerns about the team’s performance when trailing. The team had a challenging World Cup qualifying run and secured their spot in the final game.
Aguero’s condition will be evaluated by Manchester City before their next game against Leicester City.
