The beloved Indian TV show CID has revealed that ACP Pradyuman, portrayed by Shivaji Satam since 1998, has died.

Sony TV confirmed the character’s exit late Saturday through social media, sparking a wave of shock and anger among fans. In a recent episode, the iconic cop ended in an explosion during a showdown with the villain Barboza (played by Tigmanshu Dhulia).

Although the death was not shown directly, Sony’s post clarified: “End of an era. ACP Pradyuman (1998-2025).” ” The accompanying image and caption, “In loving memory,” left no doubt about the situation’s finality.

For 27 years, ACP Pradyuman captivated audiences with his sharp wit, leadership, and iconic catchphrase “Kuch to gadbad hai” on CID, one of India’s longest-running crime thrillers. Fans, many of whom grew up watching the show, expressed their grief across social media platforms like X. One fan lamented, “Just 27 years old ?”. At the same time, another exclaimed angrily, “Looks like an intern is going to get all the blame.” The ambiguity surrounding his off-screen demise fuels hope. Still, Sony’s announcement has left many heartbroken. “It’s a betrayal,” one viewer mourned.

Shivaji Satam, speaking to Bombay Times, expressed his confusion. “I have no clue—I’m on break, and the makers haven’t informed me if my storyline is finished,” he said while vacationing without any filming updates.

The off-screen exit and Satam’s confusion suggest possible twists, yet fans mourn an icon. With outrage brewing, could ACP Pradyuman make a comeback, or is this the end?
