Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court has submitted a request for leave leading up to his retirement in March 2024.
In his leave application, citing ill health, Judge Bashir requested both the Islamabad High Court and the Ministry of Law and Justice, as per sources.
Judge Muhammad Bashir, who is scheduled to retire on March 14 this year, has requested leave from January 24 to March 14. His letter, received by the high court and the law ministry, cites his deteriorating health as the reason for his inability to continue his duties.
Judge Bashir is known for presiding over cases involving prominent political figures. He has conducted hearings against former prime ministers such as Nawaz Sharif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sayed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Shaukat Aziz, and PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Additionally, he has overseen cases against former president Asif Ali Zardari.
