Senior Journalist Absar Alam reported that protesters affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have initiated acts of vandalism near NUST University on the Kashmir Highway in Islamabad.
According to Alam, the protesters are damaging both private and public property, setting fires, and attacking civilians as well as media personnel. The attacks have included targeting two TV channel satellite vans, breaking windows, attempting arson, and violently assaulting drivers and staff who resisted, leading to injuries.
In response, Aamir Abbas has challenged the allegations, asserting that the attacks on media vehicles were not carried out by PTI supporters but by unidentified individuals. He noted that the disturbance occurred around 10:30 PM and impacted vehicles from approximately seven media channels.
Abbas clarified that the convoy had not yet arrived at the location when the incidents occurred. Before its arrival, masked individuals armed with iron rods appeared, vandalized the vehicles, and then fled the scene. Abbas also confirmed with the news head of one of the major affected channels that PTI was not involved in the incident.

Further addressing the issue, Aamir Abbas refuted Absar Alam’s claims and cautioned against prematurely drawing conclusions based on previous patterns. He pointed out that, despite clear facts, there are still innocent inquiries regarding why the media is being targeted, indicating a need to carefully analyse the situation before assigning blame.
