About 52 Pakistani nationals are among the around 238 injured pilgrims who sustained injuries when a construction crane crashed into the Grand Mosque of Saudi Arabia’s holy Muslim city of Makkah earlier yesterday.
The condition of six Pakistani injured pilgrims is stated to be critical.
Seven injured are being treated at King Faisal Hospital and six at King Abdul Aziz. Others are being provided treatment at various hospitals of Makkah.
Nearly 22 Pakistani Hajj pilgrims, who sustained minor injured, were discharged after providing them first aid at Pakistan Embassy.
Pakistan Hajj Mission officials visited various hospitals and inquired about the health of injured citizens.
Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Husain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep condolence on the sad demise of the pilgrims.
They prayed eternal peace for the departed souls with the bereaved families and the government of Saudi Arabia.
PM Nawaz has directed Pakistan’s Ambassador in Saudi Arabia to provide every possible help to the injured and also personally visit the patients in hospitals.
He also gave directions to provide every possible help to families of the deceased.
