A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Lahore and other cities in Punjab, including Jhelum, Kamalia, and Gujrat, causing widespread panic as people hurried out of their homes and buildings.
The tremors also affected Nankana Sahib, Jalalpur Bhattian, Wazirabad, Shahkot, Bhalwal, and other cities.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) reported that the earthquake originated near Kharian at a depth of 15 kilometres.
Many residents fled in response to the quake, reciting the Kalma-e-Tayyaba in fear.
Despite the widespread alarm, no reported casualties or property damage from the earthquake have been reported.
