Allama Iqbal’s around 30 as yet unrevealed letters were showcased earlier yesterday at the 153-year-old Iqbal Manzil in Sialkot on the eve of his death anniversary.
Iqbal Manzil in-charge Syed Riaz Hussain said these letters were rare and never revealed earlier; they were written by the poet to his family members and friends. These letters were donated to the establishment by close relatives of Iqbal and friends in Pakistan and abroad.
An art gallery called ‘Iqbal Khatoot Key Aainey Mein’ was also established to display these letters besides rare books on his writings as well as pictures of the poet, his parents and family.
Hussain said one of the rare letters displayed was written by the then Nawab of Bahawalpur Sadiq Ahmed Abbasi on Sept 2, 1928 in which Iqbal had been appointed as legal adviser of Bahawalpur state.
