A young man was shot dead by muggers during a motorcycle snatching attempt in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The FIR, filed by his brother Usman Moin, identifies the victim as 27-year-old Ittiqa Moin. Two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted Ittiqa as he returned from a bakery. They forcibly took his motorcycle, mobile phone, and cash and then began beating him. When Ittiqa resisted, the muggers opened fire. A bullet struck Ittiqa in the right armpit and exited from the left side.
Ibad Moeen, Ittiqa’s elder brother, told the media that the incident occurred near their house. One mugger attempted to body-search Ittiqa after the shooting. Ittiqa, a university gold medallist and MBA student, was a brilliant young man with a promising future. He had married in January, leaving behind a young widow and grieving family.
Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Khurshidi, attended the funeral and expressed condolences. Haq-Parast members of the National Assembly and Sindh Assembly also attended.
MQM-P MPA Khurshidi condemned the killing, calling it a deliberate targeting of the city’s talented youth. He accused the Sindh police of complicity in the city’s crimes, stating that professionals and ordinary people are no longer safe. Khurshid criticized the police for prioritizing bribes over maintaining law and order.
Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Amir Munim Zafar Khan attended Ittiqa’s funeral at Jamia Sattaria in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He also visited Ittiqa’s family to offer condolences. Munim criticized the Sindh government, police, and law enforcement for failing to protect citizens. He demanded the arrest of Ittiqa’s killers and effective measures to curb criminal activities. Town Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Dr. Fawad, UC Chairman Muzaffar Iqbal, and area Nazim Nauman Patel attended the meeting.
