At least 22 people killed and over 100 injured on Friday in a blast outside an Imambargah at Shendak bazaar in Parachinar city of Kurram Agency.

According to initial information, the explosion occurred outside the women’s entrance of an Imambargah as people gathered for Friday prayers.

A witness said security personnel at the imambargah were checking devotees when an unidentified person parked a car next to the building, which then exploded.

Political administration claimed that it was a suicide attack. “There were more than one attackers who also fired shots on people,” a source said.

A local administration official Shahid Ali Khan told AFP that the blast had taken place near the mosque.

Police said the explosion left at least 20 people injured. They were rushed to District Headquarters hospital. The death toll may rise.
