Frontier Corps (FC) killed a regional commander for outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangi (LeJ) outfit on Sunday night.
The Quetta police chief Abdur Razzaq Cheema while talking to media said that “FC forces, following a credible lead, raid on a restaurant located on Mastung Road, where the fugitive insurgent was hiding, the militants started shooting at the security personnels from and in a retaliatory fire, which killed Usman Saifullah Kurd and one associate.“
According to police the hotel, the restaurant where Kurd was killed is located on Mastung Road in Saryab district.
Kurd was head of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Quetta cell. The group has claimed responsibility for the killing of hundreds of minority Muslim Shiites in the province in recent years.
The police chief also confirmed that one security personnel embraced martyrdom while two sustained wounded in the shootout with the militants.
Kurd was convicted for architecting two sectarian attacks in Quetta by an anti terrorism court. A bounty worth Rs2.5 million was placed on Kurd’s head after he had successfully broken a maximum security Quetta prison in 2008
