According to police the hotel, the restaurant  where Kurd was killed is located on Mastung Road in Saryab district.

Kurd was head of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Quetta cell. The group has claimed responsibility for the killing of hundreds of minority Muslim Shiites in the province in recent years.

The police chief also confirmed that one security personnel embraced martyrdom while two sustained wounded in the shootout with the militants.

Kurd was convicted  for architecting two sectarian attacks in Quetta by an anti terrorism court. A bounty worth Rs2.5 million was placed on Kurd’s head after he had successfully broken a maximum security Quetta prison in 2008
