At least eight terrorists were killed as Air Force Camp located in Peshawar area of Badaber came under atacck early Friday morning.
The spokesman of Pakistan Air Force has confirmed the attack and said that the terrorist assault was launched from two sides of the camp, however they has been restricted to the guardroom.
DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Asim Bajwa said security personnel have reached Air Force Road.
Gen. Bajwa in a Twitter message said at least seven to ten terrorists tried barge into the base; however, they were restricted to guardroom, adding the security forces killed three terrorists in intense fighting around the guardroom.
The terrorists used heavy weapons to target the guardroom of the camp on Air Force Road. However, heavy contingent of Quick Response Force (QRF) rushed to the site to fend off the attackers.
The exchange of gunfire between the law-enforcers and terrorists ceased after almost 40 minutes of very heavy fighting.
The security forces have limited the movement of the attackers and aborted their attempt to wreak havoc at the base.
The number of assailant terrorists is not yet known. However, PTV claimed that at least 40 to 50 terrorists are involved in the attack. The entire camp is being air-monitored by helicopters so that terrorists cannot escape.
Meantime, emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of the city.
The situation is still unclear as security personnel in heavy presence from police and Elite Force have cordoned off the entire area.
According to unconfirmed reports, bangs of blasts have also been heard from the area.
