The police earlier today claimed liquidating four terrorists from an outlawed militant outfit in a shootout in Karachi according to media reports.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Town, Rao Anwaar, the militants were killed after a heavy gun battle in Sohrab Goth, a suburb on the outskirts of the megacity.
“Spinning into action following credible intelligence, we raided an alleged terrorist/facilitator Qari Alamgir’s house where according to the tip-off, a number of militants including a suicide bomber were hiding,” Anwaar told the media.
Giving further details, he said the trapped militants opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.
“We returned fire with all our worth and soon outgunned them. By the end of the gunfight four of the terrorists were dead, while Qari Alamgir succeeded in making a getaway. We are hot on his trail and will soon hunt him down,” the SSP said.
Police have seized a huge cache of arms and ammo from the hideout.
The population of the Sohrab Goth area is predominantly Pathan with the majority belonging to the Mehsud tribe.
