Remittances sent home by overseas Pakistani workers increased by 11.87 percent to $11.58 billion during the nine months of the current fiscal year against $10.35 billion during the same period of the last fiscal year, the State Bank of Pakistan reported on Thursday.
Pakistan remained the top remittance recipient from Saudi Arabia with $3.39 billion received in July-March FY14. Last year, workers’ remittances stood at $2.97 billion, it said.
The inflows of remittances from the United Arab Emirates stood at $2.28 billion during the nine months of this fiscal year as compared to $2 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
