The central leadership of the  Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to shake up the Sindh cabinet and take action against corrupt officers in the provincial bureaucracy, sources told the media.

A special meeting of the PPP high command, co-chaired by Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai Tuesday evening, expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of some of the provincial ministries and departments.

The meeting, attended by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, MNA Faryal Talpur and Senator Rehman Malik, reviewed the overall performance of the Sindh government.

It also reviewed the performance of the provincial ministries and government departments. According to sources, the meeting expressed disappointment over not removing the inefficient or corrupt officers from their posts. The meeting also exchanged views on the forthcoming local bodies’ elections in Sindh and Punjab. The leadership directed the local leadership to devise a strategy for the party’s active and successful participation in the polls. Chief Minister Shah is expected to make changes in the provincial set-up after his return from Dubai. He is also likely to induct new faces in the provincial cabinet.
