Polling for the NA-120 by-election in 220 polling stations in Lahore commenced at 8am on Sunday.
The seat fell vacant following a five-member Supreme Court bench on July 28 disqualified Nawaz from the PM’s office for failing to declare being an executive of Dubai-based company, as an asset when filing his nomination papers in 2013.
A total of 42 candidates including 32 independent and 12 from different political parties are contesting in NA-120 by-election.
The by-election is being contested by Begum Kulsoom Nawaz of PML-N, Dr Yasmin Rashid of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Faisal Mir of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Advocate Ziauddin Ansari of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), among others.
