Karachi: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Monday to chair a meeting of the Sindh Apex Committee to review the progress of the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi and the prevailing security situation in the province.
The meeting is scheduled to review anti-terror actions carried out by the law enforcers thus far, with a report in this regard to also be presented in the meeting at the Governor House.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah is expected to brief the prime minister on the progress and achievements of the targeted operation being carried out by law-enforcement agencies in Karachi. On the occasion, the premier is also expected to approve the future strategy pertaining to the targeted operation against criminals and terrorists.
A day earlier on Wednesday, the director-general of Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar met Sindh chief minister and discussed with him the law and order situation of the city and related matters.
During his day-long visit today, the prime minister will also attend a function at the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) where he will inaugurate the construction of 1,100-megawatt K-II nuclear power plant near Paradise Point.
The premier is also scheduled to meet members of the Parsi community before he departs from Karachi.
