Overnight rains cause closure of main Chitral roads

Chitral: The situation continues to deteriorate in flood-stricken Chirtal as roads leading to the upper areas have been shut due to overnight rains.

DCO Chitral Amin-ul-Haq told Geo News that it was no longer possible to travel to several areas of the city.

He added that difficulties were being faced in relief work and that even the Peshawar-Chitral road had been closed for traffic.

Earlier, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand, Major General Nadir Khan stated that flash floods triggered by heavy rains have caused widespread destruction in Chitral.

Talking to Geo News, the GOC Malakand vowed to help out people of Chitral in this disaster at any cost.

Major General Nadir Khan urged the government to ascertain the causes of this destructive flood and carry out a comprehensive study to prevent from such situation in future.
