Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rasheed Godil has been shot and critical injured in Karachi.
According to initial reports unknown gunmen opened fire on Godil’s vehicle at Bahadurabad Area. The MQM leader has been taken to hospital.
Hospital sources told local news channel “Geo News'” that Godil had been shot in the head and chest and critically injured.
Hospital sources also added that the MQM leader’s driver who was injured in the attack succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Godil and his wife were critically injured when unknown gunmen, riding motorbikes, opened fire at his car and managed to flee from the scene.

The driver of Godil’s vehicle also received fatal gunshots.
Godil was immediately shifted to Liaqat National hospital, where his condition was pronounced ‘critical’.
Hospital sources said the MQM senior leader received six bullet wounds in his head, chest and face, as doctors were making efforts to save his life.
About the attack, police said the assailants were riding three bikes. The assault came in Godil’s constituency, Bahadur Abad, from where he was elected MNA in 2013 general elections.
Police said eight empty shells of 9mm pistol were found from the crime scene.
