Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq‘s presence in the ODI’s against New Zealand and in the World Cup 2015 is doubtful due to the hamstring injury he had suffered in a match against the Kiwis last month.
Talking to the media, a PCB official said Misbah hasn’t played even a single match after his injury due to which he is unlikely to play in the ODIs against New Zealand and in the mega event.
“The reason behind him not playing any match is that he is not fully fit,” he said.
The official said the countdown for the WC has begun and Misbah hasn’t recovered fully from his injury.
“At a time when the mega event is on the go therefore it is necessary for every player to be totally physically fit to play in the WC because even a little injury can lead to a big loss,” he said.
He said if Misbah somehow doesn’t feature in the extravaganza than there are chances that all-rounder Shahid Afridi might be given the captain’s cap.
Responding to a question he said if this happens then the tour selection committee will decide about the replacement for Misbah.
However the official said he hopes thet ‘Misbah recovers soon from his injury as it is a matter of his career as he has also announced his retirement from ODI’s after the WC 2015’.
Pakistan’s cricket team has already lost ace strike bowler Saeed Ajmal and all rounder Muhammad Hafeez due to their bowling action. With Misbah also out of the game Pakistan’s chances look slim for the mega event.
