Roger Federer of Switzerland and Serena Williams of the United States started their French Open campaign on a high note after winning their respective matches on Sunday.
The second grand slam of the year French Open kicked off in Paris yesterday.
Federer defeated Slovakia’s Lukas Lacko in 6-2 6-4 6-2 straight sets to qualify for the second round.
In the women’s singles, Williams sisters qualified for the second round after winning their matches.
Serena Williams overpowered France’s Alize Lim 6-2 6-1 whereas Venus Williams thrashed Swiss Blenda Bencic 6-4 6-1 to make it to the 2nd round of the grand slam.
