Pakistan Peoples Party’s renegade leader Zulfiqar Mirza alleged that former president Asif Ali Zardari had his wife, the former prime minister Benazir Bhutto murdered.

“Asif Ali Zardari murdered Benazir Bhutto,” the former home minister thundered, while addressing a press conference at his residence in Karachi.

“Benazir would not have even married Zardari if it was not for my efforts,” he added.

Angry that his security was taken back from him, Mirza reiterated he has been receiving threats.

“Taking my security back is the first step in trying to kill me,” he said, fearing a repeat of what happened to Mir Murtaza.

Further, the former provincial home minister said if something happens to him, Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur should be held responsible.

“I do not expect any justice for myself as even the son of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto could not get justice and his killers have still not been arrested,” he quipped.

After 45 years of friendship, Mirza and Zardari had a war of words creating a split between them and driving the two into a verbal tirade against each other.

Mirza further alleged supermodel Ayyan laundered money for Zardari.

“Ayyan is Asif Zardari’s girlfriend and she laundered money for him,” he added. The supermodel was sent to Adiala Jail on March 15 after she was caught allegedly smuggling $500,000 to Dubai.

‘Bilawal Bhutto is a brave leader’

Regarding the current PPP leadership, Mirza said, “Bilawal Bhutto is a brave leader and he openly talked about the corruption of Altaf Hussain which is why he has been shut out in England.”

Mirza’s mental stability was brought into question by leaders of the PPP. According to them, Mirza is mentally disturbed and should get himself treated.

“Many of our leaders have sacrificed their lives for the party,” PPP MPA Nawab Ali Wassan had said. “We have given our lives for Pakistan’s democracy and people like Mirza have always been used as a tool to break the party.”

Wassan talked about how Mirza had claimed several times that he was a dear friend of PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari. “Is this the way a sincere friend behaves?” He quiried.
