Zain Qureshi, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), resigned as the party’s deputy parliamentary leader in the National Assembly.
Zain stepped down after receiving a show-cause notice from PTI over alleged indiscipline during the passage of the 26th constitutional amendment. Zain stated his resignation was to facilitate an impartial inquiry into the matter.
In his response to the show-cause notice, Zain reaffirmed his loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan and his father, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, expressing his continued allegiance to both. Previously, Zain disclosed that he had gone into hiding following advice from his father, embroiled in legal challenges.

In a video statement, Zain denied supporting the constitutional amendment, countering what he termed “baseless propaganda” and clarified that his father had directed him not to endorse the amendment under any circumstances.
The controversy stems from PTI’s broader stance against the amendment, which it claims undermines judicial independence. PTI issued show-cause notices to several members, including Zain, Aslam Ghuman, Muqdad Ali Khan, and Riyaz Fatiana, for not adhering to the party’s directive to oppose the amendment and remain in a designated safe place during the vote.
