A Chinese corporation has formalized a strategy to manufacture Energy City buses in Pakistan, collaborating with Pakistan’s Master Motor Corporation and China’s Yutong Bus Company.
An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed, initiating the development and local production of Yutong’s innovative Energy City buses through a newly established joint venture in Pakistan.
To facilitate these operations, Yutong and Master Motor will establish a cutting-edge greenfield plant. The initiative positions the company as the pioneer and sole manufacturer of city buses in Pakistan, offering advanced hybrid and electric powertrains. This strategic move aims to substantially alleviate the country’s public transport deficit and support the government’s efforts to enhance transport infrastructure.
The pivotal agreement was signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China. The official signing occurred on June 5 at the Pakistan Shenzhen Business Conference, with Master Motor’s Director Daniyal Malik and Yutong’s representative Huang Yuanchao formalizing the partnership.
The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, alongside a cadre of senior Pakistani officials.
