Online streaming giant YouTube has launched its ad-free services, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music, in Pakistan. YouTube Premium offers an enhanced user experience, eliminating ads and providing features like background play and offline video downloads. This service also incorporates YouTube Music Premium, which allows ad-free music streaming, background play, and music downloads.
The launch of these services in Pakistan has been met with excitement by Google’s Director for Pakistan, Farhan S. Qureshi. With the local creative industry expanding rapidly, many Pakistani artists use YouTube to share their content and increase their global audience. The introduction of YouTube Music and YouTube Music Premium is expected to present significant opportunities for Pakistan’s music industry.
YouTube Premium is priced at Rs479 monthly, while YouTube Music Premium is offered at Rs299 monthly. Family plans and special student plans are also available.
Local Industry Reactions: A Boost for Pakistani Music
EMI Pakistan’s Chief Operating Officer, Zeeshan Chaudhry, and Xulfi, Curator and Producer of Coke Studio Pakistan, have both expressed enthusiasm for this launch. They foresee the arrival of YouTube Music as a chance for Pakistani musicians and artists to reach a broader audience.
