In Karachi, a tragic incident unfolded when a young man was fatally injured by a vehicle driven by a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The accident on University Road was when a Revo car, travelling on the wrong side of the road, collided with a motorcycle operated by Athar, a resident of Gulshan-e-Maymar. Athar, who was employed at the MDC Admin Block and was a father of two, succumbed to his injuries five days after the incident while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The vehicle involved in the crash was registered to Rehan Mustafa, the General Secretary of the PML-N Karachi Youth Wing. Witnesses at the scene reported that Mustafa’s brother-in-law and two women were in the car at the time of the accident. They allegedly fled the scene immediately following the crash, leaving the severely injured Athar behind as the driver escaped.
The incident drew significant media attention, prompting SSP East to take official notice. Consequently, the police initiated a formal investigation and registered a case. Athar’s brother helped identify the vehicle involved, and authorities were able to locate the driver’s residence. However, efforts to apprehend the driver were complicated as Mustafa’s father reportedly misled the police, and a retired DSP concealed the suspect at an unknown location. The police continue their investigation and search for the involved parties.
