Xiaomi is poised to revolutionize mobile gaming with its new WinPlay system, which enables Windows PC games to run on Android tablets.
Currently in development, this feature has sparked considerable interest following a teaser from Xiaomi on social media. The WinPlay Engine, as it’s called, reportedly offers full compatibility with the vast collection of PC games available on Steam, all while maintaining excellent GPU performance with minimal loss.

Xiaomi has taken to Weibo to showcase the capabilities of its WinPlay Engine. The engine only experiences a minor 2.9 percent drop in GPU performance during gameplay.
The testing phase is now open, with Xiaomi seeking volunteer testers in China, specifically targeting Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro owners. This tablet boasts a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, and a maximum of 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, making it an ideal candidate for this innovative gaming technology.
At the core of the WinPlay Engine is Xiaomi’s HyperCore technology, a comprehensive kernel technology platform that enhances performance across graphics, networking, and security. First introduced with Xiaomi’s Android 15-based HyperOS 2 in October, HyperCore integrates a proprietary microarchitecture scheduler that significantly reduces CPU idle time by 19 percent and boosts app launch speeds by up to 54.9 percent.
This innovation arises from the dedicated efforts of over 3,000 engineers focused on optimizing performance across more than 25,000 scenarios.

While Xiaomi confirms WinPlay Engine’s compatibility with Steam, it has not disclosed whether other popular gaming storefronts, such as the Epic Games Store or GOG, will also be supported. As Xiaomi continues to refine this technology, the gaming community eagerly anticipates a broader application that could redefine mobile gaming by integrating a wider array of gaming libraries.
