The Wizard of Oz at Sphere will debut at the Las Vegas Sphere, transforming the 1939 classic into an AI-enhanced, immersive experience, as reported by USA Today. This groundbreaking presentation uses cutting-edge technology to immerse nearly 18,000 viewers in Dorothy’s journey, redefining cinematic storytelling.
The film fills a 160,000-square-foot, 16K-resolution LED wall spanning three football fields and rising 22 stories, enveloping the audience. Enhanced by Google Cloud’s AI “outpainting,” the visuals expand the original 4:3 frame, revealing unseen details. The Sphere’s 167,000 speakers deliver remastered audio, while 750-horsepower fans simulate the iconic tornado scene, complemented by haptic seats and custom scents for a 4D experience.

Produced by Sphere Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus, the project restores and expands the film’s Technicolour glory. A team of over 1,000 artists and technologists, including Oscar winners, ensured the 75-minute experience maintains the original’s integrity while leveraging the Sphere’s technology, creating an unforgettable journey to Oz.
This debut, part of The Sphere Experience, marks Hollywood’s boldest AI-driven cinematic venture, blending nostalgia with innovation. With tickets starting at $104 and 120,000 sold already, the show runs through March 2026, capitalising on renewed interest from Wicked’s success.
Audiences will feel transported to Munchkinland, with sensory effects enhancing iconic scenes. The exterior Wicked Witch installation, featuring 50-foot legs and 22-foot ruby slippers, adds a free photo op. Visitors are advised to book early and arrive for pre-show experiences at the Venetian’s interactive displays.
