Winnipeg Woman Discovers Hermes Bag at Thrift Store.

Ashlee, a woman from Winnipeg, Canada, thought she had stumbled upon the deal of a lifetime at a local thrift store, only to discover the item was a counterfeit.

According to Newsweek, she initially believed she had purchased an authentic French luxury handbag for approximately $8.99. When she examined it at home, she realized it was a fake.

Hermes bags, known for their lavishness, often start at $10,000 and can reach astronomical prices. Ashlee’s experience, which she shared in a TikTok video under the username @msfili, began with excitement as she browsed through bags and found a red leather one marked Hermes. Despite a small stain, she was initially thrilled with the find.

Her delight turned to disappointment upon realizing the bag’s lack of authenticity. “Unfortunately, this bag ended up being fake; it was real leather and felt like good quality. But I have previously found authentic Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags at the thrift store,” she told the outlet.

Ashlee also commented on the thrill of thrift shopping, noting its potential for discovering valuable items inexpensively and reselling them for profit on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or eBay.

Most TikTok viewers speculated the bag was either a Kelly or a Hermes Birkin, two of the most coveted and expensive bags globally. Due to their limited production, these bags are often available only via waiting lists.
