The government extensively publicized an alleged audio recording featuring Imran Khan and Azam Khan related to the Cipher case but did not submit it as evidence in court.
Journalist and court reporter Saqib Bashir provided insights into why this might be the case during an interview with a private channel.
Bashir explained that detailed information about the recording process is required for audio to be admissible in court. This includes the recording device, the cameraperson’s identity, and other specifics such as the recording’s location, time, and date.
He highlighted that the recording in question was a private conversation, which legally cannot be taped or used in court without violating privacy rights. Therefore, such recordings are inadmissible as evidence.
Furthermore, Bashir suggested another reason for the Cipher’s non-submission in court could be its contents, which may echo Imran Khan’s public allegations about a conspiracy, thus complicating its legal presentation.
