The Indian Air Force community is mourning the loss of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who died on Friday after the Tejas light combat aircraft he was piloting crashed during a display at the Dubai Airshow. The IAF confirmed the fatal accident, which occurred around 2:10 PM local time.
Preliminary analysis of footage from the event suggests the single-seat aircraft, developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), failed to recover from a low-altitude manoeuvre before it impacted the ground.
Wing Commander Namansh Syal was 34 years old and came from Patiyalkar village in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. He was a squadron leader due for promotion, marking a career dedicated to the service of his nation.
