The White House has unveiled a new portrait of First Lady Melania Trump, featuring a notable black and white style.
Photographed by Regine Mahaux, who also captured Melania Trump’s first official portrait in 2017, this latest image presents the First Lady dressed elegantly in a suit, standing before a window with the iconic Washington Monument in the background.
Shared on the social media platform X with the caption “First Lady Melania Trump’s Official White House Portrait,” the image contrasts sharply with her 2017 colour portrait, which featured a close-up of her face. This choice of a monochrome filter adds a timeless quality, emphasizing the First Lady’s poised demeanour.
A set of official portraits issued by the Trump administration features President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, both dressed in blue suits and set against the US flag backdrop.
The portrait release coincides with recent significant events involving the Trump administration. Last week, President Trump visited California to assess the wildfire damage and expressed dismay at the destruction. During a tour of Hurricane Helene’s flood damage in North Carolina, President Trump critiqued the Democratic Party’s response to state emergencies and hinted at potential changes to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), proposing more direct state management of disaster relief efforts.
In his statements, Trump described FEMA as “a very big disappointment,” criticizing its slow and bureaucratic nature and suggesting that states could handle such situations more efficiently and cost-effectively. This stance highlights a significant policy direction and reflects his administration’s ongoing critique of federal oversight in handling state-level issues.
