The online creator community reacted with surprise when a YouTube livestream unexpectedly appeared on the White House’s official website triggered an internal investigation by US authorities.
The livestream was hosted by Matt Farley, known online as @RealMattMoney. It briefly appeared in the Live News section of whitehouse.gov late Thursday night before being removed.
According to reports, the video showed Farley answering viewers’ questions about personal finance and investments during a two-hour YouTube broadcast. However, only a short segment of the stream was visible on the government website. It remained live for roughly an hour.
A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to The Associated Press that the administration is aware of the issue and is reviewing how the content surfaced on the official platform. Officials have not yet clarified whether the appearance was due to a technical error. They have also not clarified if it was due to internal mishandling or a potential security breach.

Farley said he had no prior knowledge that the stream would appear on the White House website. Moreover, he stated that no government agency has contacted him since the incident. Reacting with humour, the YouTuber remarked that he would have discussed broader topics had he known his audience would include visitors to a government portal.
Meanwhile, the unusual episode has renewed concerns over digital security within the current US administration. Over the past year, several cybersecurity incidents have come to light. In May, authorities launched an investigation after senior figures received impersonated messages claiming to be from the White House chief of staff. In another case, Iranian-linked hackers reportedly infiltrated former President Donald Trump’s campaign systems and accessed sensitive documents.
At present, the White House continues to examine how the livestream was embedded on its website. They are also evaluating what safeguards may need strengthening to prevent similar incidents in the future.
