WhatsApp, a Meta subsidiary, has introduced four new text formatting features to improve user interaction. These enhancements include bulleted and numbered lists, block quotes, and inline code designed to simplify messaging and boost efficiency, especially in group conversations.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced these updates on February 21, highlighting their potential to streamline communication. He shared instructions for utilizing these features: hyphens initiate bulleted lists, numbers with periods start numbered lists, the Greater Than symbol for block quotes, and the accent symbol precedes inline code.
These additions complement existing formatting options like bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace, now extending to WhatsApp Channels. Available across Android, iOS, Mac, and web platforms, the rollout is gradual, with some users already benefiting from the web version.
Meta aims to enhance WhatsApp’s functionality, promising more structured and effective user conversations.
