WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Meta, is introducing a new feature specifically designed for businesses on its platform, according to the app-monitoring website, WaBetaInfo.
The feature, known as “status archive,” enables businesses to share previous status updates with their customers.
This update will initially be released to beta testers of WhatsApp Business for Android, with wider accessibility planned for the coming weeks.
While WhatsApp is working on revamping the application, it’s also enhancing existing features. This new “status archive” feature archives the status updates of businesses after 24 hours.
Once activated, users will be alerted via a banner within the Status tab on their WhatsApp account. “Moreover, businesses can manage their archive preferences and view their archive directly from the menu within the Status tab. Importantly, the archive is kept private, meaning only the business can view their archived status updates,” stated WaBetaInfo.
This feature offers significant advantages for businesses, allowing them to share the same status from their archives with their customers as often as needed.
“Stored status updates will remain on the device for up to 30 days. Businesses will still be able to continue creating ads for Facebook and Instagram or sharing status updates until they expire in the archive,” WaBetaInfo added.
This feature appears exclusive to businesses and will not be available for regular WhatsApp Messenger users.
