WhatsApp has announced an increase in video status length for selected beta users.
According to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging app now allows video statuses to have a maximum duration of one minute, up from the previous 30-second limit.
This update aligns WhatsApp with competitors like Instagram and Messenger, which offer 60-second video statuses or stories.
Users can now record videos directly within the app or upload existing videos from their phone’s storage without splitting longer videos into multiple segments.
The extended video length offers several advantages. It enables users to share more comprehensive and naturally flowing stories, enhancing the storytelling experience.
Additionally, it ensures a consistent user experience across various social media platforms, making it easier for users to switch between apps without adapting to different video length restrictions.
This new feature is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve user engagement and satisfaction. By addressing the limitations of the previous 30-second cap, WhatsApp aims to provide a more seamless and enjoyable platform for its users.
Currently available only to beta program users, this feature is expected to roll out to the wider user base soon, marking a significant upgrade in the app’s functionality.
